Why register my Smart card?
By providing your contact details you register your Smart card and also protect your money in the case of your card being reported lost or stolen. You can also opt in to receive updates with special offers and promotions via our monthly e-newsletter Metro Message.

If you register your Monorail Smart card, we'll hold your personal information on a secure central system and link it to the serial number of your Monorail Smart card. You can update your details at any time via our online form.

Metro Transport Sydney is committed to protecting your personal information and is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), to ensure we meet the highest standards of customer privacy. Read our privacy policy.

What happens if I don’t register my Smart card?
If you don’t want to provide your contact details when trading your old Metrocard across to Smart card, then you will be given a non-rechargeable Monorail Smart card. This card will transfer your existing trip balance from Metrocard to the Monorail Smart card, but no further trips can be added to this card.

Lost cards
If your card is lost or stolen, let us know as soon as possible via our online form, or phone and we can deactivate your card so no one can use your trips. We can then replace your card with a new Smart card with exactly the same trip value on it for a small admin fee ($10).

So what has happened to Metrocard and TNT cards?
Monorail Smart has now replaced the previous Metrocard and TNT cards, so these two cards will no longer be sold or recharged.

Additionally note all Metrocard and TNT card trips have now expired and are no longer valid for travel on the Monorail. Metrocard and TNT card trips expired on the 9 September 2012, which was 12 months from Monorail Smart launch. As Metrocard and TNT card trip balances have now expired they can no longer be transferred to a new Monorail Smart card.

How long are Monorail Smart card rides valid for if you are closing?
As the Monorail will continue to operate up to and including the 30 June 2013, you can continue to use your Smart card and existing trip balance up to and including the closure date.

Monorail Smart passengers will be kept up-to-date via ongoing communication and our Metro Message e-newsletter. Register here to receive Metro Message and ongoing upates from us.
