Commuting On Monorail Or Light Rail For 4 Per Day
Sydney has plenty of great sights and experiences to offer to anyone visiting the city, but it is also home to a lot of people who work there during the week. There are plenty of different ways to get around the city – on foot, by bike and by car for example – but there are two other cost effective ways to commute into town as well, without having to worry about where you are going to park (or how much it is going to cost you) when you get there.
The first one is the Sydney Monorail system, which runs on a circular loop around many of the main attractions in Sydney. These areas hold the workplaces of many of Sydney’s citizens and as such the Monorail provides an ideal way to get from A to B in a stylish fashion! You certainly get a great view of the city as you make your way to and from work every day.
The fares are also very reasonable, with the best bet for a commuter being the Metrocard. This is a reusable card which you can buy for $20, and you will get six trips on the Monorail for that price – meaning each trip costs just $3.33. You can also top this card up whenever you like and enjoy additional rides to and from work for just $2.50 each.
The Light Rail system runs from the east of the city through to the west, terminating at the Central Station stop near Chinatown. The fare you will pay depends on whether you are travelling along the whole route or just a section of it, but wherever you are travelling from you will find the fares to be extremely good – especially considering you are travelling on one of the greenest forms of transport there is.
A weekly ticket for regular commuters using the Light Rail system costs just $20, which represents excellent value for money. And if you work in a location close to the City Centre or the Galeries Victoria and you will need to use both the Light Rail and the Monorail, the deal gets even better.
If this sounds like you then a MetroConnect ticket will cover you for using both services for a whole week – and you will only need to pay $28 for the week. This is a great option if you work five days a week, and if you enjoy going out at the weekends your ticket will be even more useful. For example, if you go to and from work for five days a week that equates to $2.80 per single trip, and all your trips out at the weekend would effectively be free of charge. There’s no better excuse for exploring Sydney and everything it has to offer than that!
What’s more the Monorail and Light Rail systems give you a unique view of this stunning city, and it’s a view that is guaranteed to have you arriving at work in a good mood each and every day.
