Travelling Through The City With Kids In Tow
Anyone who is a parent will know that a day out with the children is more like an expedition than a simple trip. Buggies, changing bags and toys are essential for the younger child, whereas older kids who walk everywhere need to be kept under control to make sure they don’t wander off.
Travelling with children of any age can also be particularly demanding because they can get bored easily when they can’t really go anywhere. The familiar cry of ‘Are we there yet?’ is an all too familiar one for many parents.
Fortunately that’s not something that parents need to worry about when they get on the best Sydney transport systems that the city has to offer. Both the light rail system that runs into the heart of the city from the west and the Monorail circular route taking in all the best places in the city itself make for such a captivating journey that you won’t get too many problems keeping the kids occupied for the duration of the journey.
The huge windows on the light rail carriages make for a panoramic view which really grabs the attention of many children. You can point out various landmarks and sights on the way to your destination, and maybe even learn something yourself along the way!
The Monorail is probably the travel method of choice for most children though, purely because it glides smoothly quite a distance above the cars and the heads of the people in the streets below. Kids tend to have a different perspective of the world around them to the one that most adults will have anyway, but the experience they will get on board the Monorail in particular is guaranteed to keep their attention without you worrying about them getting into mischief.
The other big advantage of travelling through Sydney on these systems is that they link up all the best destinations and sights. It doesn’t matter where you have in mind to go for the day, you can be assured that there is either a Monorail stop or a light rail stop nearby, making light work of getting the whole family to where you need to be in double quick time and with the least amount of effort.
If you are travelling with a buggy you’ll also find it easy to negotiate these rail systems, since they are built with buggies and wheelchairs in mind. You’ll either be able to use ramps or lifts and you won’t find any narrow aisles in the actual trains themselves either. It’s all been made as easy as possible to give you the best day out you can have.
In short, going from place to place with your children – whatever ages they may be – doesn’t have to be a huge problem. It’s always a task to keep the kids happy and entertained wherever you might be, but when you have the Monorail and the light rail systems to show them, half of the work is done for you.
